The Morrisons 'The Best' Old Vine Carignan 2024 is a Morrisons own-label supermarket wine produced in partnership with Terres Fidèles, a respected Languedoc négociant and winemaking project. It is sourced from three different parcels of gnarly old Carignan vines across the Languedoc, blended with a touch of Grenache for added generosity and fruit. The wine is unoaked, dry, and medium-bodied at 13% ABV, offering excellent everyday value from one of southern France's most characterful indigenous grapes.
Terres Fidèles is a southern French winemaking project founded by Fergal Tynan MW, working for more than two decades with local growers and winemakers to craft small-batch wines that authentically express the spirit of their Languedoc and Roussillon terroirs. The team works hand-in-hand with the finest local growers, seeking out old-vine fruit and regenerating historic vineyards.
86% Carignan, 14% Grenache
The wine delivers flavours of black cherry, fig, and garrigue spice, with lively acidity and supple tannins capturing the sun-drenched character of the Languedoc. A touch of Grenache adds jammy generosity to the keen, dark intensity of the old-vine Carignan.
IGP Pays d'Oc covers 120,000 hectares within Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France, stretching from the Camargue to the Pyrenees, and authorises 58 grape varieties — making it one of France's most diverse and value-driven wine regions. Carignan is one of the traditional southern varieties that thrives here, particularly from old vines where lower yields produce wines of much greater concentration and complexity.
Approximately £9.25 per 75cl bottle at Morrisons (UK), with loyalty card discounts available.
