Nice light salmon pink colour . Lively on opening. Pleasant on the nose. Tastes of grape. Useful. Bit of an edge on tasting.
The Society's Celebration Crémant de Loire Rosé is an exclusive own-label sparkling rosé made for The Wine Society by Gratien & Meyer, the Society's longest-standing producer — a relationship dating back to 1906. Blended from a majority of Cabernet Franc with some Grolleau, it is a fresh, elegant, traditionally-made Loire sparkling wine with a classy jester's-hat label that harks back to the wine's original launch celebrating The Wine Society's 25 years in Stevenage. It is consistently one of the Wine Society's bestsellers.
Gratien & Meyer is a historic Loire sparkling wine house founded in Saumur in 1864 by Alfred Gratien, based on the outskirts of Saumur in the heart of the Anjou region, with cellars dug deep into the region's famous tuffeau (limestone) soils. The partnership between the Gratien and Meyer families has endured for over 150 years, and the house has been The Wine Society's principal sparkling wine supplier since 1906.
Majority Cabernet Franc with some Grolleau
Fresh, balanced and fruity, with lovely raspberry and strawberry fruit and a light, creamy finish. An approachable, elegant rosé sparkler with a clean, refreshing character.
Crémant de Loire is produced across the Loire Valley using the traditional method, with the Saumur sub-region's famous tuffeau (limestone) soils providing brilliant acidity ideal for sparkling wine. The Loire's climate is moderated by the river and is similar to, but less severe than, that of Champagne.
Approximately £13.75 per bottle (UK retail, The Wine Society)
