Solid Rose Not too sharp Little sweetness to it Good
Champagne Devaux Oeil de Perdrix is a non-vintage Brut Rosé from the Côte des Bar in Champagne, named for its distinctive mid-salmon 'partridge eye' pink hue. It stands out for its exceptional ageing — spending at least four years on lees, far beyond the regulatory minimum — and for sourcing 80% Pinot Noir predominantly from Les Riceys, a sub-region renowned for high-quality Pinot Noir. It has won multiple international awards and is widely praised for punching well above its price point.
Founded in 1846 by brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, the house was famously steered for over a century by three successive 'Champagne widows' before being entrusted in 1987 to the Union Auboise winegrowers' cooperative, now known as Groupe Vinicole Champagne Devaux, which oversees more than 800 growers across 1,400 hectares in the Côte des Bar.
80% Pinot Noir (primarily from Les Riceys), 20% Chardonnay
A mid-salmon pink Brut Rosé with fleshy red berry flavours of strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant with a hint of smoke; on the palate it is fresh and smooth with a downy, creamy texture and orange-scented freshness.
Champagne Devaux is situated in the Côte des Bar, in the southern Aube department of the Champagne appellation, a subregion responsible for approximately 25% of all Champagne production and particularly renowned for producing the fruitiest expressions of Pinot Noir.
Approximately $34 USD / £24.99 GBP per 750ml bottle at retail
