Hohnen X is a fruit-forward, non-vintage (CVC – Conjunto de Varias Cosechas) red Rioja crafted by renowned winemaker Dave Hohnen in collaboration with Bodegas La Eralta. It is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown at 650 metres altitude in Rioja Alta, aged 16 months in American oak, and blended across selected vintages for a smooth, modern style. Its eye-catching, quirky label and accessible character make it a standout on UK supermarket shelves.
Founded in 1990 as a family-run project in Agoncillo, Rioja Alta, Bodegas La Eralta manages over 360 hectares of estate vineyards and houses more than 10,000 French and American oak barrels, producing in excess of 3 million bottles per year across a classic range of Riojas.
100% Tempranillo
An explosion of cherry, raspberry and juicy plum fruit with complexity derived from 16 months of American oak ageing, delivering a smooth, medium-bodied and fruit-forward style.
Rioja is one of Spain's most prestigious wine regions and one of only two classified under the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) system. Rioja Alta, where these vineyards sit at 650 metres, benefits from an Atlantic climate and clayey-calcareous soils that produce grapes with excellent depth and concentration.
Typically retails between £9–£12 in the UK (e.g. Sainsbury's, Ocado), making it an accessible everyday Rioja.
